Doctoral Program in Environmental Science Conducts Monitoring and Evaluation to Strengthen Student Academic Progress

The Doctoral Program in Environmental Science, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), conducted a Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) session for its students on Monday, March 17, 2025. Held virtually, the event was attended by the Head of the Study Program, the Quality Assurance Coordinator, and all doctoral students. The main objective of this activity was to monitor and assess students’ academic progress throughout their study period.

The monitoring and evaluation session served not only to track students’ progress but also to provide a platform for them to communicate any challenges or obstacles encountered during their study. This activity plays a crucial role in ensuring that every student receives adequate academic and non-academic support. To facilitate this, the program provided a structured feedback form where students were invited to report their study targets, achievements, difficulties, and suggestions for improvement. The submitted information became an important reference for the study program in providing constructive feedback and tailored academic guidance. read more

Karangrejo, January 20, 2025 — The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) once again demonstrated its commitment to advancing sustainable development in Indonesia through a community service program in Karangrejo Village, Loano District, Purworejo Regency. Five groundwater wells — the result of collaboration between the Doctoral Program in Environmental Science, Pamsimas, the Ministry of Agriculture, and alumni of SMAN 1 Purworejo — were officially inaugurated by the Dean of the Graduate School. This joint initiative now provides access to clean water for 160 households and supports local agricultural activities. read more

The Doctoral Program of Environmental Science Program, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has initiated a Community Service Program (PKM) in collaboration with the Community-Based Drinking Water and Sanitation Program (PAMSIMAS) and Alumni of SMA Negeri 1 Purworejo Class of 1985 (MG85). The program, implemented in Karangrejo Village, Loano District, Purworejo Regency, aims to provide a sustainable source of clean water for the local community. The collaboration successfully resulted in the construction of a bore well capable of meeting the clean water needs of 160 families. read more

In Dusun Kembang Sentikan, Tirtomartani Village, Kalasan Sub-district, Sleman Regency, lecturers and doctoral students from the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) initiated a community empowerment program based on three main approaches: research literacy, environmental awareness, and art appreciation. This time, the team successfully identified a potential well water source that can be utilized to provide clean water in Karangrejo Village, a region long recognized for its limited water availability.

“Migunani” Maggot House: A Profitable Innovation in Waste Management

On September 10, 2023, the Doctoral Program in Environmental Science initiated the 2023 Community Service (PkM) activities in Dukuh, Sinduharjo, Ngaglik, Sleman. In collaboration with the Anom Sari Youth Organization, the Environmental Group, and the Migunani Waste Management Self-Help Group, the PkM program was carried out through three main activities: a Waste Management Workshop, a visit to Omah Maggot Jogja, and assistance in the production of compost and organic liquid fertilizer (NPK). As a result of these activities, the “Migunani Maggot House” was established and continues to operate. read more

PEPSILI is a legally recognized network organization that facilitates collaboration among all environmental science study programs across Indonesia, aiming to advance environmental science in accordance with the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in education, research, and community service. read more

Introducing the Beauty of Indonesia: UGM Summer Course Invites Participants to Explore Yogyakarta’s Karst and Caves

The UGM Environmental Science Summer Course on “Karst and Cave Sustainable Management” was conducted through several activities. On August 15, one of the key highlights was a field trip that allowed participants to directly observe natural phenomena in the karst and cave systems around the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This activity also served as an important platform to introduce participants to the diverse karst ecosystems of Indonesia, which exhibit structural characteristics distinct from the karst formations in the participants’ home countries. Through this field trip, participants were expected to directly identify karst structures in several caves and analyze both the potentials and challenges within these ecosystems. read more

More Than 15 Countries Participate in UGM International Conference

On August 12–14, 2024, the Environmental Science Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) conducted the second Summer Course series. The 5th Asian Trans-Disciplinary Karst Conference 2024, an in-person follow-up to the previous online course, was attended by participants from over 15 countries. The event served as a platform for knowledge sharing, experience exchange, and direct international collaboration. The conference spanned three days and included seminars and panel sessions.

The event was inaugurated by the Dean of the Graduate School and Prof. Dr. Eko Haryono, M.Si., the Chair of the Organizing Committee. The opening session continued with an introduction to the International Union of Speleology (UIS) by Prof. Nadja Zupan Hajna, followed by a presentation on the upcoming 19th International Congress of Speleology in Brazil, scheduled for July 20–27, 2025, delivered by Jose Ayrton Labegalini, Chair of the Congress Organizing Committee. read more
