Yogyakarta, 5 August 2025 – Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through its Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Environmental Science, held a meeting with a delegation from National Taiwan University (NTU) to strengthen international collaboration in education and research. The meeting, conducted at UGM’s Land Resources Study Center, was attended by Prof. Eko Haryono and Prof. Junun Sartohadi representing UGM, as well as Prof. Jr-Chuan Huang and Dr. Ci-Jian Yang from NTU.

(Event Documentation)

During the meeting, both parties discussed several strategic collaborative initiatives, including joint supervision programs, student exchanges, summer schools, guest lectures, international field activities in Indonesia and Taiwan, as well as an annual joint conference focused on geoscience.

Grounded in their multidisciplinary expertise, both institutions emphasized the importance of education and research in geoscience to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is anticipated that the Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Environmental Science at UGM will actively implement these collaborative activities together with NTU, particularly its Department of Geography.

This partnership directly contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Through these joint programs, both universities are committed to fostering inclusive and collaborative education that addresses global challenges, including environmental issues and climate change.

The collaboration is expected not only to strengthen the international academic network between UGM and NTU but also to serve as a valuable platform for knowledge and cultural exchange for the academic communities of both institutions.
