The Doctoral Program in Environmental Science, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), delegated Prof. Eko Haryono and Dr. Sudaryatno to participate in the IGU Egypt 2025 Thematic Conference. Initiated by the International Geographical Union (IGU), the conference was held in Egypt from April 12–19, 2025. This international event brought together scholars and experts from around the world to discuss pressing global environmental issues through the lenses of geospatial technology, global change, and sustainability.

(Activity Documentation)

Under the theme “Geo-Spatial Technology, Global Changes & Sustainability,” the conference served as a platform for academics and practitioners to exchange insights and the latest research on climate change impacts, ecosystem degradation, and the application of geospatial technologies in environmental management. The theme resonates with today’s global challenges—how geospatial data and analysis can be leveraged to monitor and address environmental changes more efficiently and effectively. Moreover, the conference provided an opportunity to strengthen international collaboration in responding to global sustainability challenges.

Through its participation, the Doctoral Program in Environmental Science aims to both share and gain new scientific insights from global counterparts. This activity also supports the program’s commitment to expanding educational and research collaboration at the international level in alignment with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Furthermore, the participation contributes to the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13: Climate Action and SDG 15: Life on Land.
