On August 21–23, 2024, representatives from the Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Environmental Science at the UGM Graduate School, Dr. Sudaryatno, M.Si., and Dr. Nurul Khakhim, M.Si., attended the 11th National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Association of Environmental Science Study Programs (PEPSILI) in Bali. PEPSILI is a legally recognized network organization that facilitates collaboration among all environmental science study programs across Indonesia, aiming to advance environmental science in accordance with the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in education, research, and community service.

The PEPSILI Rakernas, held at Universitas Udayana Campus, Denpasar, Bali, comprised three main activities: the 16th Asia Impact Assessment Conference, PEPSILI Competency Training, and the 11th PEPSILI National Working Meeting. The 16th Asia Impact Assessment Conference, held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, adopted the theme “Harmonization of Various Impact Assessment Tools for Nature Positive.” The program included an opening ceremony followed by scientific presentations divided into three sessions, covering topics such as “Environmental Assessment for Sustainability” by Dr. Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, “Environmental Assessment Approval System“ by Dra. Laksmi Widyajayanti, M.Sc., “Amdalnet—A Tool in the Eligible Process for Environmental Digital Transformation” by Farid Mohammad, S.T., M.Env., and “The Role of EIA in Realizing Nature Positivity, Focusing on Compensatory Mitigation and Net Loss” by Akira Tanaka.
On Thursday, August 22, 2024, an excursion was conducted with visits to three locations: Mangrove and Estuary sites (including mangrove nursery and fish release), Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK), and Mengiat Beach (coral conservation activities).
Furthermore, on Friday, August 23, 2024, the PEPSILI Competency Training was held at the Graduate Hall of Universitas Udayana. The scientific topics included “Utilization of Geospatial Information to Increase the Effectiveness of Environmental Studies” by Erik Teguh Primiantoro, S.Hut., MES., and “Carbon Balance Values, Greenhouse Gas Emissions, and Carbon Credits Based on Industrial and Transportation Activities” by Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN.Eng. The final activity, the 11th PEPSILI National Working Meeting, took place immediately after the competency training on the same day.

Overall, the series of activities conducted aligns with the objectives of sustainable development, contributing to solutions for global environmental challenges. These efforts support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), Goal 13 (Climate Action), Goal 14 (Life Below Water), Goal 15 (Life on Land), and Goal 17 (Strengthen the Means of Implementation and Revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development).
