Yogyakarta, 10 March 2026 – A research team from the Doctoral Program in Environmental Science, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), conducted a series of field surveys as part of a study titled “Microplastic Footprints in Tropical Karst Aquifers: The Influence of Karst Development and Anthropogenic Pressure.” The research aims to identify the presence, characteristics, and potential sources of microplastic contamination within karst aquifer systems on the island of Java.
Yogyakarta, 9 March 2026 – Innovation in the utilization of microalgae to address waste management challenges while simultaneously producing renewable energy became the focus of research presented by Environmental Science doctoral student at the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Fifin Hindarti. The research was presented during a closed dissertation defense held on Thursday (5/3) from 13.00–16.00 WIB at the C Meeting Room, 5th Floor, UGM Graduate School. The dissertation is entitled “Utilization of Microalgae Euglena gracilis as a Bioremediator of Dairy Farm Wastewater and Lipid Production for Biodiesel Feedstock.”
Yogyakarta, 13 February 2026 — The Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Environmental Science at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) convened a Curriculum Consolidation Meeting for the 2026 New Curriculum at Room E503, KLMB Building, Faculty of Geography UGM. The meeting was attended by the Program Management Board, homebase lecturers of the Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Environmental Science, as well as an interdisciplinary Academic Development Team from various faculties. Purworejo, February 7, 2026 – The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through its Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) Programs in Environmental Science, conducted a groundwater potential investigation in Purworejo Regency, Central Java. This activity is part of the Community Service Program (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/PKM), aimed at supporting clean water provision for local communities and strengthening the agricultural sector through a geophysical survey technology approach.

The list of graduates who successfully completed their studies in this period includes five individuals from the Doctoral Program in Environmental Science: Defritus Aldrin Punuf, Iga Maliga, Natasha Belandina Cornelin Abolla, Rembanang Anindhita, and Thomas Oka Pratama. Meanwhile, the Master of Environmental Science Program graduated eight students: Anak Agung Istri Agung Mirayani, Akbar Wahyu Illahi, Annisa Nabila Ramdini, Ardhi Irawan, Inneke Monica, Nona Chalista Aurora Nur Cahyo, Rahmi Idhayanti, and Ummi Nur Fitriana.

A new chapter has begun within the leadership structure of the Master’s Program in Environmental Science. The leadership relay has officially passed from Prof. Dr. Ig. L. Setyawan Purnama, M.Si., to Dr. Sudayatno, M.Si., who will serve as the Head of the Program for the 2026–2031 period. Dr. Sudayatno’s appointment is regarded as a vital move to maintain the momentum of achievements established during the previous term.
Yogyakarta, October 22, 2025 — The Environmental Science Study Program, Graduate School, Universitas Gadjah Mada, once again conferred degrees during the Graduate Commencement Ceremony Period I of the 2025/2026 Academic Year, held on October 21–22, 2025 at Grha Sabha Pramana, Universitas Gadjah Mada.
In this period, the Environmental Science Study Program graduated five (5) Doctoral students in Environmental Science (PhD) and ten (10) Master’s students in Environmental Science with a focus on Environmental Science (MSc). The graduates come from diverse academic disciplines and regions across Indonesia, reflecting the program’s multidisciplinary and inclusive approach to advancing environmental science at UGM.
