A Master’s student in Environmental Science at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Enjang Asri, successfully presented his research abstract at the 2025 Sustainable Asia Conference (SAC 2025), organized by the Singapore University of Social Sciences at 29-30 October 2025. In this esteemed international forum, Enjang Asri delivered an abstract that emphasized the strategic importance of establishing a coordinated coalition for waste management initiatives in Yogyakarta. His presentation underscored the ongoing fragmentation among various stakeholders addressing waste-related issues in the region, noting that many actors continue to operate independently, thereby limiting the overall effectiveness of waste reduction efforts.

In his presentation, Enjang Asri highlighted the necessity of fostering collaboration among community groups, academic institutions, government agencies, and the private sector. Such a coalition is envisioned as a unified platform capable of harmonizing visions, strategies, and collective actions to advance a more sustainable and integrated waste management system for Yogyakarta.
This contribution is closely aligned with the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). By presenting these insights at an international scientific forum, students of Universitas Gadjah Mada demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental problem-solving while simultaneously enhancing the university’s visibility and academic reputation on the global stage.
Universitas Gadjah Mada extends its highest appreciation to Enjang Asri for his dedication and his contribution in bringing Yogyakarta’s local environmental perspectives into international discourse. This achievement is expected to inspire fellow students to actively participate in addressing environmental, social, and sustainable development challenges.
